The poems begin at dawn and end at night, creating a morning to night thematic organizational structure. The poems are simply beautiful. The images help the reader to develop strong sensory connections to nature. The illustrations are paintings by Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher. Teaching Possibilities: Integrate this book with science lessons on the nature. This book is an excellent model for acrostic poetry. Students could select a class theme and write their own poems.
