Poetry Teacher's Toolbox
We are working to provide classroom teachers with tools to help you teach poetry.
Teach students how to write a noun poem by beginning with our writing frames and then releasing students to independent writing.
This poetry frame will help your students write a great bio poem. Ask students to fill in the blanks (after modeling your own) and then make a complete copy of their poem by handwriting it or typing. Add student's pictures and print the poems out on nice bordered printer paper. Laminate the poems and hang them up before sending this wonderful keepsake home.
Print off these colorful nursery rhymes with cute pictures. Laminate them and cut each line into a strip. Place each rhyme inside an envelope (out of sequence). Students work to put the rhymes in sequence.
Each pattern includes a sample poem and directions. Patterns include Simile poems, Noun poems, My Name is poem, The Most Beautiful poem, If I Could Be poem, Color poem, Window poem, The 5 W's poem, Circle poem, Have You Ever poem, I Don't Know Why poem, and I Was Born To poem.
