This poster uses the word "revise" as an acronym to help students think about ways to revise their papers. Make a copy of our category board for each student. Cut out the cards and place them (mixed up) into an envelope (one copy of cut out cards per envelope). Tell students to place the cards "Sentence" and "Not a Sentence" at the top of their desk to make two columns. They should read each card and place it in the correct category. You can quickly check to see if students can tell the difference between a complete sentence and sentence fragment with this hands-on activity. Tell students to fill out this form and attach it to each complete writing project. This form requires students to record their project as well as keep rough drafts and final copies together. TMAP stands for topic, mode, audience, and purpose. Help students get focused by creating a TMAP for each writing project. TMAP is an original Teaching eVentures acronym.
